Heatwave over Notting Hill

The London weekend forecast offers an average 20ºC (68°F), with sunny intervals. That may not seem like a whole lot. Locally however, chances are that will change. For one, West London erupts into Notting Hill Carnival with its massive yearly parade. Second, the Heatwave sound is set to play several carnival related festivities. Stream their essential 2010 carnival selection right here on Radio Maliboom Boom! Don't miss the interview with Heatwave's Gabriel after the jump.

Robbo Ranx Dancehall Specialist

Where were you in 86? Ask Robbo Ranx, and he will likely tell you he was taking his first turns on the decks in Northern London. That is where Robbo and friends formed the Tippertone sound, and started spinning their first school and house parties.

25 years on, millions of people have sought up Robbo Ranx on the radio and web, where he still brings non-stop reggae and dancehall to the masses. Robbo remains the dancehall radio DJ to check for. And the one DJ others will compare themselves to, and remember to copy their playlists from (Robbo's rotation is simply what dancehall crowds will expect to hear elsewhere).

For Radio Maliboom Boom in August, Robbo came through with a huge and exclusive mix for your late summer listening pleasure. We also got a chat with the man himself. Get to know one of reggae broadcasting's most prominent figures after the jump, and press play.

Federation Sound

"All over [NYC] you can hear dancehall blasting from dollar vans and clothing stores. It's an essential part of the fabric that makes up the city.", says Max Glazer one half of Federation Sound.

With a life long passion for non-stop reggae music, Max Glazer and Kenny Meez have played a big part in the making of that very NYC fabric.

When Federation Sound went into internet broadcasting three years ago, they quickly rose to become one the most prominent and ambitious (weekly!) dancehall podcasts to grace the web. In some ways this was emblematic of reggae music and mixes moving online - an evolution which has also helped propel Federation Sound into becoming one of the most revered reggae sounds on the East coast.

When asked for a Radio Maliboom Boom mix exclusive, Federation Sound got back to us with the definite guide to the anthems in store for summer (a lot of which have grown into club staples since).

Listen to the mix and read the full Federation Sound interview after the jump.

About the DJ:

Gabriel Heatwave

For us, it's a carnival all year round. Whatever the month is, you can count on The Heatwave dropping the maddest carnival tunes. Bashment, soca, reggae, house or even pop - what we play gets the girls excited and the party hype. So when London gets into the carnival spirit in August, you know we've got it locked. Carnival Bashment, our new mix, has the biggest carnival anthems of 2010 alongside the cream of the UK bashment scene and exclusive Heatwave specials. Plus the rolling sound that we can't resist calling 'Jafrican' and the maddest and hypest soca around.
